Fire Services Monthly Report: FEBRUARY 2022
The coronavirus (COVID-19)continues to spread worldwide,and in Orange County.The
primary purpose of this update is to provide operational direction to enhance the
protection of our personnel,our community and provide guidance to medical aid calls.
In order to reduce the potential exposure of coronavirus and its negative impacts on our
workforce,we have modified public access to OCFA facilities.OCFA will continue to
evaluate the need to continue.It is imperative to keep our first responders and
professional staff healthy in order to provide exceptional emergency services to our
community.
All fire stations are currently staffed and operational.
If you require services from OCFA Planning and Development,call 714.573.6108.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
•All OCFA FIRE STATIONS ARE OPERATIONAL AND FULLY STAFFED
•Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, all OCFA facilities will have modified public access. This
includes the OCFA headquarters, Community Risk Reduction area offices, and fire stations.
EXTERNAL RECRUITMENT:
•OCFA is currently accepting external applications for the following positions:
❑Fire Pilot: Open recruitment began on Monday, March 9, 2020, and will remain open until
vacancy is filled.
❑Fire Battalion Champlain: Open recruitment began on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, and
will be closing on Sunday, March 20, 2022.
❑Senior Accountant: Open recruitment began on Monday, March 7, 2022, and will remain
open until position is filled.
INTERNAL RECRUITMENT:
•OCFA is currently accepting internal applications for the following positions:
❑Fire Apparatus Engineer Academy 35 Instructor: Open recruitment began on Tuesday,
March 1, 2022, and will be closing on Sunday, April 3, 2022.
❑Fire Prevention Analyst: Open recruitment began on Monday, February 28, 2022, and will be
closing on Sunday, March 13, 2022.
❑Division VI Administrative Fire Captain: Open recruitment began on Thursday, March 3,
2022, and will be closing on Sunday, March 20, 2022.
❑Career Firefighter Academy Cadre: Open recruitment began on Tuesday, March 8, 2022,
and will be closing on Wednesday, March 23, 2022.

No Cypress Special Events for the month of FEBRUARY 2022:

Do you know someone who may be interested in attending the 2022 OCFA Girls
Empowerment Camp?This free,2-day camp is open to teens ages 14 to 18.The camp
introduces teens to the fire service by providing a realistic hands-on overview of
firefighting and all aspects of public safety.More importantly,the Girls Empowerment
Camp provides participants with valuable life skills that will serve as a foundation in their
future careers and encourages them to pursue a career in public safety.Online
registration opens on Friday,April 1,2022.The camp will take place Saturday,May 14th
through Sunday,May 15th at OCFA Headquarters in Irvine.Please share the attached flyer.

On March 6,the Anaheim Ducks are honoring three of OCFA’s
very own for Firefighter Appreciation Night!Hand Crew
Firefighters Dylan Van Iwaarden and Phi Le will be honored
for their incredible strength,service,and sacrifice while
Firefighter Tyler Johnson will be recognized as the Military
Honoree of the evening.Please join our entire OCFA Family in
celebrating these three firefighters for their service to our
community,state,and nation.

Burn Safety:
Every 60 seconds someone in the U.S.
Requires treatment from a serious burn
injury,may of them are children.To
prevent burns,do not leave hot objects
unattended create a safety zone of at least 3
feet around hot objects or appliances,and
keep hot objects away from counter edges.

Fires can spread quickly once the smoke
arms sounds,leaving only a minute or two
to escape.Create and practice a home
escape plan so you and your family can get
out quickly if the smoke alarms sounds.For

wildfire,trapping embers in gaps,cracks ,and

As Wildfire Approaches:To prepare for a
possible evacuation,load everything in your car,
including your disaster supply kit and go!Back
the car in the driveway and keep the keys with you
in case you need to leave quickly.
Garages:Gaps and cracks at the top,bottom,
and edges of garage doors are weak spots where
embers can lodge or enter,putting your home at
risk,even if the flames from a wildfire never
reach your property
