Resolution No. 1263 s. RESOLUTION NO. 1263 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS EXPRESSING THE INTENTION OF SAID COUNCIL TO CREATE A SPECIAL FUND FOR THE DEPOSIT OF A PORTION OF MONIES RECEIVED BY SAID CITY FROM LOCAL SALES TAXES ON GASOLINE SALES, SAID MONEY TO BE USED FOR THE ENVIRONMENTAL ENHANCEMENT OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS. WHEREAS, the 1972 State Legislature adopted Senate Bill 325; and WHEREAS, this bill will be effective July 1, 1972 to provide that the existing State sales tax shall be applicable to the sale of gasoline; and WHEREAS, as a result of the adoption of this bill, the County of Orange and the Cities of this County will receive additional funds from their existing 1% local sales tax because it will include the sale of gasoline which was heretofore exempt from sales taxes; and WHEREAS, in the opinion of this Council, these sums should be used within each city for coordinated efforts, such as bicycle trails, greenbelts and such other projects which will improve the environment of that city and will be for the benefit of all citizens of this County. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows: 1. This Council does hereby agree to create a special budget unit from those sums which it will receive from the local sales tax which is attributable to the sale of gasoline. 2. This Council does urge all cities of this County to also set aside in such a special category such sums that they will receive from the imposition of the sales tax on the sale of gasoline. 3. This Council does agree to appoint a representative to attend such meetings as are necessary to make recommendations and effect coordinated use of these funds for environmental en- hancement.
