Resolution No. 1282 r) RESOLUTION NO 1282 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS ADOPTING THE CONCEPT OF, AND STATING ITS INTENT TO PARTI- CIPATE IN A COORDINATED CLEAN-UP PROGRAM DURING MAY, 1973. WHEREAS, because of the great concern for the environment, there is increasing awareness of the value of community betterment and the need for programs to eliminate visual blights; and WHEREAS, the elimination of trash and litter is a vital first step in a continuing effort to beautify; and WHEREAS, the County of Orange has requested each of the twenty-six Cities within the County of Orange to focus attention upon and give special emphasis to projects designed to enhance the environment during the month of May, 1973; and WHEREAS, the Governor of the State of California has proclaimed the month of May as being anti-litter month in California; and WHEREAS, the County of Orange has pledged the support of its Refuse Dis- posal Transfer Stations, Disposal Sites, equipment and other resources to help coordinate its efforts with those of the Cities and the State; and WHEREAS, a coordinated effort by the State, the County and the Cities will result in increased efficiency, more concerted news media coverage, and fuller public interest. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Cypress hereby proclaims its adoption of the concept of, and its intent to participate in a coordinated Clean-up Program during the month of May, 1973, and does further urge all the citizens of this City and organizations within this City to plan to take whatever action they can to initiate beautification projects, including general clean-up, repairs and litter pick-up, in order to improve the environment.
