Resolution No. 1334 ) 334 - ) C,485 RESOLUTION NOe 1334 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS OBJECTING TO THE PROPOSED CYPRESS HIGH SCHOOL BOUNDARIES AND REQUESTING RE-ESTABLISHMENT OF THE BOUNDARIES TO IN- CLUDE THE COLLEGE PARK CYPRESS TRACT, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Cypress has been informed that the Cypress High School attendance boundaries do not include the entire City of Cypress; and WHEREAS, the Cypress High School attendance boundaries specifically exclude the newly constructed College Park development located in the southern area of the City; and WHEREAS, the students from this residential area are now attending Lexington Junior High School in the City of Cypress and developing friendships with students who will be attending Cypress High School; and WHEREAS, these students were previously advised that they would be attending Cypress High School; and WHEREAS, the total high school age population in this residential area will not be large enough to have a major impact on either Western High School or Cypress High School; and WHEREAS, these new citizens to the City are striving to develop an identity with their community of Cypress; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Cypress strongly encourages community identification with all its citizens; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Cypress has historically supported and generated total community support for the programs of the Anaheim Union High School District, including the 1970 high school bond and tax override proposals in which over 70% of the citizens of the City of Cypress voted in favor; and WHEREAS, this is an indication of the strong community support existing in Cypress; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Cypress is dismayed and disturbed at the possibility of these students being transported outside the community; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Cypress that the Board of Trustees of the Anaheim Union High School District re-evaluate the proposed Cypress High School attendance boundaries and that strong consideration be given to re-establishing the boundaries to include the College Park Cypress residential tract, PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Cypress at a regular meeting held on the 26th day of February, 19730 .40 /--) // CG 1 MAYOR( AYOR 0 k7 CITYAF CYPRESS ATTEST: CITY CLERK OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS 3 Al d STATE OF CALIFORNIA ) COUNTY OF ORANGE ) SS I, DARRELL ESSEX, City Clerk of the City of Cypress, DO HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was duly adopted at a regular meeting of the said City Council held on the 26th day of February, 1973, by the following roll call vote: AYES: 5 COUNCILMEN: Frankiewich, Harvey, Kanel, Roberts and Lacayo NOES: 0 COUNCILMEN: None ABSENT: 0 COUNCILMEN: None CITY CLERK OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS - 2 -
