WORKSHOP SESSION Strategic Planning Session — Discuss and Provide Direction on Updating the City of Cypress Strategic Plan The facilitator, Knight Leadership Solutions, led the City Council and staff in its strategic planning session which consisted of discussion and direction on updating the City's Strategic Plan, including brainstorming six-month objectives for final consideration by the City Council at a future regular meeting. CLOSED SESSION The City Attorney announced that the City Council would convene in closed session to discuss the following item: CONFERENCE WITH LEGAL COUNSEL — EXISTING LITIGATION Pursuant to Government Code Section 54956.9(d)(1) Frances Marquez v. City of Cypress, et al. II Case No. 8:24-cv-1835-ODW-JDE United States District Court, Central District of California, Western Division Mayor Burke recessed the meeting at 2:03 p.m. Mayor Burke reconvened the meeting at 2:41 p.m. 202 REPORT OF CLOSED SESSION/WORKSHOP The City Attorney reported that the City Council met in Closed Session regarding the item listed on the agenda, namely Conference with Legal Counsel — Existing Litigation, the matter of Frances Marquez v. City of Cypress, et al. He stated the City Council received a briefing and by motion by Council Member Minikus, and seconded by Council Member Peat, and unanimously carried 5-0-0, the City Council voted to indemnify and defend the two additional individuals, Jon Peat and Paulo Morales, named in the lawsuit.
