RECREATION AND COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMISSION
October 28, 2025
The special meeting of the Cypress Recreation and Community Services Commission was called to order at
6:03 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, in the Cypress Community Center Conference Room.
PRESENT: Commission Chair Dronkers, Commission Vice Chair Edwards, Commissioners Bentley,
Cervantes, and Jackson. Commissioner Russell arrived at 6:04 p.m.
ABSENT: Commissioner Erbe
Also present, Jeff Draper, Director of Recreation and Community Services; Ian Kokot, Recreation and
Community Services Manager.
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS (Limited to 30 minutes — three minutes per speaker, unless extended by the
Commission)
None.
NEW BUSINESS
1. 2025 Halloween Decorating Contest
Commission Vice Chair Edwards thanked the Recreation Manager for creating a'map of the entries.
Commission discussion ensued.
It was moved by Commission Vice Chair Edwards, and seconded by Commissioner Bentley, to approve 5301
Bishop Street as the first place winner, and both 5791 Comstock Court and 5242 Marcella Avenue for second
place.
Motion was carried by the following roll call vote:
AYES: 6 COMMISSIONERS: Bentley, Cervantes, Dronkers, Edwards, Jackson, and Russell
NOES: 0 COMMISSIONERS: None
ABSENT: 1 COMMISSIONERS: Erbe
The Recreation Manager informed that the Halloween Decorating entries will be posted on the City website and
social media and passed out a thank you letter for the Commissioners to sign that will be mailed to all contest
participants.
Commission Chair Dronkers reminded of the Tuesday, November 18 regular Commission meeting.
ADJOURNMENT:
It was moved by Commissioner Jackson, and seconded by Commission Vice Chair Edwards, to adjourn the
special meeting at 6:11 p.m. to the regular meeting of November 18, 2025, to be held in the Cypress Community
Center Conference Room at 6:00 p.m.
