RESOLUTION NO. 7039
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS,
AND ACTING AS EX OFFICIO GOVERNING BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
THE CYPRESS RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT, AMENDING
RESOLUTION NO. 6995 ESTABLISHING HOURLY PAY RANGES FOR
TEMPORARY PART-TIME AND SEASONAL POSITIONS
WHEREAS, the Personnel Rules and Regulations of the City of Cypress require
that amendments or revisions to the Position Classification Plan, revisions to class
specifications or salary adjustments for positions be approved by the City Council, and
acting as ex-officio Board of Directors of the Cypress Recreation and Park District; and
WHEREAS, on August 1, 2025, the Director of the Department of Finance certified
that based on the annual inflation rate from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025, under Labor
Code section 1182.12(c)(3)(B), the California minimum wage must be increased from
$16.50 per hour to $16.90 per hour for all employers effective January 1, 2026; and
WHEREAS, certain part-time classifications are being updated to comply with
minimum wage requirements and to avoid internal compaction between classifications;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of
Cypress, and acting as ex-officio Board of Directors of the Cypress Recreation and Park
District, that Resolution No. 6995 be amended as indicated below:
SECTION 1. Effective December 19, 2025, the increases associated with minimum
wage adjustments for temporary part-time and seasonal employees in the positions
indicated shall be compensated as indicated in Attachment "A".
SECTION 2. Current and future pay increases for the temporary part-time
classifications of Maintenance Worker, Office Assistant I/II, and all management
classifications will be adjusted to be consistent with the regular full-time classifications.
SECTION 3. A temporary part-time and seasonal employee is eligible for a merit
increase within the salary range established for the position based on acceptable job
performance as approved by the Department Director and provided that the employee has
worked a minimum number of hours from the date of appointment or the date of the last
merit increase as indicated on the Attachment "A" over a 12-month period.
SECTION 4. A temporary part-time and seasonal employee must meet the
qualifications of a position as specified in the job specification in order to qualify for a
promotion to a position with a higher rate of pay. In addition, all promotions shall be based
on acceptable job performance as approved by the Department Director.
SECTION 5. Incumbents of temporary part-time and seasonal positions receive no
benefits except as required by State and Federal Law.
SECTION 6. All resolutions and parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
rescinded.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Cypress, and acting as
ex-officio governing Board of Directors of the Cypress Recreation and Park District, at a
regular meeting held on the 10th day of November, 2025.
