Minutes 99-07-19MINUTES OF AN ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE CYPRESS CITY COUNCIL HELD July 19, 1999 The AdjOurned Regular Meeting of the Cypress City Council was called to order at 6:05 p.m., MOnday, July 19, 1999, at the St. Irenaeus School, Adult Education ROoms A & B, 9201 Grindlay Street, Cypress, for the purpose of conducting a Council/commission Workshop, relating to roles/responsibilities and how to deal with difficult issues and situations, Mayor Keenan presiding. PRESENT: councilmembers McCOy, MCGIII, Mayor Pro Tem Piercy and Mayor Keenan ABSENT: Councilmember Sondhi AlSO present were the City Manager and scarf members Angus, DeCarlo, Hensley, Storey, LiU, Dadbeh, Commerdlnger, and the following members Of the City Commissions/Boards: Cable Commission: Chair Baker, Vice Chair Williams, Black, Harper, and Martin. Cultural Commission: Vice Chair Koester, Bloch, BlOOm, Chance, Coronado, and Kimble. Recreation & Community Services Commission: Chair Fowler, Vice Chair Wostenberg, BloCh, Livingston, Preston, and Woodson. Senior Citizens Commission: Carruthers, Christopher, Alternates: Fifleld and Hooven. Traffic commission: Chair Mansolino, conde, Hawkins, and Killian. Youth Commission: Ahn, Hovey, Schwartz, and Wostenberg. Non-conforming Hearing Board: Carruthers and Siu. The Mayor welcomed everyone to the workshop and turned the meeting over to the City Manager, who introduced the facllitator, Mike Cooney, from the Regional Training Center. FOllOWing self-introduction by all those present, Mr. Cooney engaged the participants in group exercises and discussions over the following topics: Council, Commission and staff roles/relationships. Commissioners serving in an advisory capacity as opposed to an advocacy role. Accomplishments achieved over the past year. What needs to be done over the next year In order to work together. DUe tO the scheduled adjournment time of the workshop, the meeting was adjourned at 9:00 p.m., to TueSday, July 20, 1999, in the Hall building of the St. Irenaeus School, 9201 Grindlay Street, Cypress, to continue the workshop session.
