SERVICES COMMISSION
HELD
FEBRUARY 15, 2000
The regular meeting of the Cypress Recreation & Community Services Commission
and the adjourned regular meeting of the Cypress City Council was called to order at
7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, February 15, 2000, in the Cypress Senior Citizens Center
Conference Room, 9031 Grindlay Street, Cypress, California, Mayor Piercy presiding.

Also present were Richard Storey, Interim City Manager; and Marvin DeCario,
Recreation and Parks Director.
ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION:
Bill Wostenberg, Chair of the Cypress Recreation and Community Services
Commission, made a presentation to the Council, highlighting the following areas:
Skatepark
Commissioners discussed Council's recent approval of a skate plaza at Veterans
Park, noting that they are in support of a full-sized skatepark at Veterans Park.
Discussion continued on the proposed skatepark construction in the City of
Stanton, with suggestions that Council consider a joint venture with Stanton.
Enhanced Communication from the Public (i.e., Website and On-line
Reqistration)
Commissioners expressed their interest in having more accessible and updated
internet information for the public, and wishes to pursue the idea of on-line
registration and an interactive website.
Recommendations From City Council for Projects for the Recreation and
Community Services Commission involvement
Commissioners informed that they have begun working on the workplan for
Fiscal Year 2000-2001, and asked the Council for feedback on expectations of
the Commission. The Commission is continuing improvements to various park
playground equipment, and is also considering improvements to Oxford
Academy, as per the current agreement.
Proposition 12 - Safe Neighborhood Parks, Clean Water, Clean Air and Coastal
Protection Bond Act of 2000
Council informed that this matter was discussed at the February 14, 2000,
Council meeting, at which time the item was received and filed.
Communication Between the City Council and the Recreation and Community
Services Commission
Commissioners expressed the desire to meet with Council more than once a
year, and would be especially interested in meeting with Council on highly
sensitive matters such as Skatepark. Council Members were agreeable to
meeting with the Commission more frequently, as necessary.

ADJOURNMENT:
The joint meeting with the Recreation and Community Services Commission concluded
at 8:33 p.m., with the City Council adjourning to their next meeting of February 17,
2000, 4:30 p.m., Civic Center Executive Board Room.
