Minutes 66-10-20MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING October 20, 1966 The City Council held an adjourned regular meeting on October 20, 1966, at the Landell School, 9739 Denni Street, Cypress, at 7:30 p.m., Mayor Frank P. Noe presiding. PRESENT: Councilmen Bowen, Harvey, McCarney, and Noe ABSENT: Councilman Kanel Also present were City Manager/City Clerk Dartell Essex and Assistant City Manager Dartell Dalton. COMMUNICATION FROM UNIVEP~ITY OF CALIFORNIA RE: OPEN SPACE CONSERVATION SYMPOSIUM: The City Manager presented a communication from the University of California, informing the City Council of a Symposium to be held in Santa Barbara on October 22, 1966, to review Proposition 3, which relates to Open Space Conservation. It was moved by Councilman Harvey, seconded by Councilman Bowen, and unanimously carried, to place this matter on the agenda at this time and to receive and file the communication. PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR CIVIC CENTER CARPETING AND DRAPES: The City Manager requested that the City Council consider the Plans and Specifications for the Civic Center carpe~S and drapes, which had been completed by the Architect. It was moved by Councilman McCarney, seconded by Councilman Bowen, and unanimously carried, to place this matter on the agenda at this time. The City Manager explained that the type of carpet and drape which had been approved by both the City Council and Cypress Civic Center Corporation had been specified in the final plans. He further explained that the only change from the original drawings was the deletion of the carpeting in the City Council Chambers beneath the public seating area. This change was made in order to allow for more efficient maintenance. Following a brief discussion regarding the Plans and Specifications, it was moved by Councilman Harvey and seconded by Councilman Bowen to recommend that the Cypress Civic Center Corporation approve the carpet and drape Plans and Specifications for the Civic Center as ~epared by Architect William L. Peteira and Associates. The motion was unanimously carried by the following roll call vote: AYES: 4 COUNCILMEN: NOES: 0 COUNCILMEN: ABSENT: 1 COUNCILMEN: Bowens Harvey, McCarneys and Noe None Kanel JOINT MEETING BETWEEN CITY COUNCIL AND CYPRESS SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTESS: The following met with the City Council to discuss areas of mutual concern: Cypress School District Trustees Walter A. James, Ralph K. Hines, and Mrs. Christine Swain, and Assistant Superintendent Daniel Mulvihill and Rex S. Nerison. Items discussed included communications, Conditional Use Permits, street improvements, weed abatement program, crossing guard and crossing protection requirements, methods of selecting school sites, and transferring of students from one school to another.
