Minutes 69-05-01MINUTES OF A JOINT MEETING OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS HELD May 1, 1969 The regular meeting of the Cypress Planning Commission was called to order at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, 1969 in the City Council Chambers, 5275 Orange Avenue, Cypress, California, Vice Chairman Cardoza presiding. PRESENT: ABSENT: Commissioners Wilke, Cardoza and Evans Commissioners Worley and Davis Also present were City Manager/City Clerk Darrell Essex, Attorney from Rutan and Tucker Bruce Wallace, Assistant City Engineer Ray Coakley, Public Works Director Arthur Schatzeder, Secretary of the Planning Cormmission George R. Putnam, Admini- strative Assistant Douglas Dunlap and Administrative Intern Gary Kariker. It was moved by Commissioner Evans, seconded by Commissioner Wilke and unanimously carried to adjourn the meeting at 4:04 p.m. to the Employees' Lounge in the City Hall to conduct a joint meeting with the Cypress City Council. Mayor Pro-tem John Kanel called the adjourned regular meeting of the Cypress City Council to order at 4:05 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 5275 Orange Avenue, Cypress, with the following in attendance: PRESENT: ABSENT: Councilmen Bowen, Harvey, Kanel, and Noe. Councilman Kanode It was moved by Councilman Noe, seconded by Councilman Bowen and unanimously carried to adjourn the meeting at 4:06 p.m. to the Employees' Lounge in the City Hall to conduct a joint meeting with the Cypress Planning Commission. The joint meeting between the City Council and the Planning Commission was called back to order at 4:10 p.m. in the Employees' Lounge in the City Hall by Mayor Pro-tem John Kanel, with the following in attendance: PRESENT: Councilmen Bowen, Harvey, Kanel, Noe and Kanode Commissioners Wilke, Cardoza and Evans ABSENT: Commissioners Worley and Davis. The Secretary of the Planning Commission introduced Mr. Walter S1 artery from the Department of Housing and Urban Development who reviewed the various federal programs which are available for community improvement. COMMISSIONER WORLEY ENTERED THE MEETING AT 4:30 P.M. Following discussion, it Was generally agreed that the staff should pursue the possibility of utilizing these programs for encouraging cormnercial development along Lincoln Avenue and suggested that this matter be discussed further during budget sessions. The City Manager presented a report from Mr. Wesenberg, City Manager of the City of La Palma, which had been presented to the City Council of La Palma regarding withdrawal of that city from the Cypress Park and Recreation District. RECESS: It was moved by Commissioner Wilke, seconded by Commissioner Cardoza and unani- mously carried to recess the Planning Commission meeting at 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. that evening.
