Minutes 70-06-14MINUTES OF AN ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE CYPRESS CITY COUNCIL MELD June 14, 1970 The adjourned regular meeting of the Cypress City Council was called to order at 9:30 a.m.s on Sunday, June 14, 1970, in the Administrative Conference Room, 5275 Orange Avenue, Cypress, California, Mayor John Kanel presiding. PRESENT: Counciln~n Harvey, Fanode, Lacayo, Roberrs and Kanel ABSENT: None The budget discussions continued. The City Manager reviewed the summary of revenue and expenditure estimates and reviewed the summary portion of the budget. During the discussion regarding the revenues, Councilman Kenode requested that the City Council consider supporting the current legislation which has bean introduced in the State Assembly regarding Harness Racing. This request was approved, and the City Manager was requested to present a report on this matter at the regular meeting of the City Council scheduled for June 22, 1970. Following further discussion regarding revenue estimates, it was moved by Councilman Roberrs, seconded by Councilman Kanode and unanimously carried to remove the previous motion from the table regarding the City street sweeping services. Considerable discussion was held regarding the advantages end disadvantages of City ~treet sweeping services as compared to those provided by the existing contract The City Manager suggested that the Council consider on a trial basis, a weekly sweeping program by the current sweeping contractor to determine if this increase in sweeping frequency alleviates the problems of street sweeping. Following this trial program, the City Council could then determine whether or not'to allocate additional funds to provide this service with City personnel and equipment. This suggestion was generally approved by the City Council. Councilmen Lacayo withdrew his second to the original motion, and Councilman Rob errs withdrew the motion. It was generally agreed that the trial sweeping program should be for a period of two months~ and the Council approved an additional appropriation of $4,000.00 to the contractual services account of the Public Works Maintenance Budget for this program. Following further budget discussion, the Finance Director reported that he had obtained the bids for leasing the City Manager's automobile. It was moved by Councilman Kanode, seconded by Councilman Roberrs end unanimously carried to place this item on the agenda for consideration at this time. It was moved by Councilman Kanode and seconded by Councilman Lacayo to authorize the City to enter into a lease for an automobile with Boulevard Rental and Leasing Company of Long Beach, 1890 Long Beach Boulevard, Long Beach, California, in the amount of $168.00 per month, plus sales tax. The motion was unanimously carried by the following roll call vote: AYES: 5 COUNCILMEN: NOES: 0 COUNCILMEN: ABSENT: 0 COUNCILMEN: Harvey, Kanode, Lacayo, Roberrs and Kanel None None Mayor Kanel called a Personnel Executive Session at 1:15 p.m., to discuss salaries and fringe benefits of employees and Department Heads.
