HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 71-11-06MINUTES OF AN ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF TRE CYPRESS CITY COUNCIL HELD November 6, 1971 The adjourned regular meeting of the Cypress City Council was called to order at 9:32 aomo, on Saturday, November 6, 1971, in the Cypress City Council Chambers, 5275 Orange Avenue, Cypress, California, Mayor Robert Harvey presiding° PRESENT: Councilmen Fanel, Fanode and Harvey ABSENT: Councilmen Lacayo and Roberrs Also present were Planning Conunission members Ricker, SonJu, Warren and EVans; and Recreation and Park Commissioners Andersen, Christensen, Ritehie, SChaper, Spurgeon, Swain and Famm~ ADJOURNMENT: It was moved by Councilman Fanode, seconded by Councilman Kanel and unanimously carried to adjourn at 9:35 aom~, to the Los Alamitos Country Club, 4561 Fatella Avenue, for a Joint meeting with the Cypress Planning Commission and the Cypress Recreation and Park Commission° CALL ro ORDER: The meeting was called to order at the Los Alamitos Country Club, 4561 Fatella Avenue, at 9:59 aomo~ Mayor Robert Harvey presiding~ PRESENT: Councilmen Fanel, Fanode and Harvey ABSENT: Councilmen Lacayo and Roberrs Also present were Planning Commission members Ricker, SonJu, Warren and Evans; and Recreation and Park Commissioners Andersen, Christensen, Ritchie, Schaper, Spurgeon, Swain and Kamm~ A general discussion was held between the Cypress City Council, Planning COmmission and Recreation and Park Commission relative to the possibilities of a bond issue to acquire and develop park and recreation facilities within the Recreation and Park District° COUNCILMAN LACAYO ARRIVED AT 10:00 AoMo After considerable discussion, it was generally agreed that the Staff should study the needs and present definite recommendations relative to park and recreation facility needs° COMMISSIONER CHRISTENSEN LEFT AT 10:35 A,Mo Following further discussion, it was generally agreed that there was a need for recapping the costs expanded by the citizens of La Palms for construction of the pool located atKennedy High School~ COMMISSIONER SCHAPER LEFT AT 11:40 A,Mo It was the consensus of those present that a study should be made as to the effects of offering the City of La Palms the opportunity to purchase the remaining contractural agreement with the AnaheimUnion High SChool District from the Cypress Recreation and Park District for the swimming pool on a pro rata basis; and that the study should ~ y CoUncil Mlnutes November 6, 1971 be submitted co the Recceatien and Park Commission, x~he will forward their recommenda=~ons =o the Planning Commission, who would in turn recommend to the City Council° ADJOURNMENT: The mee=ing of the City Council was adjourned at 12:00 pomo, to 4:00 pomo on Monday, November 8, 1971o.
