A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS,
AND ACTING AS EX- OFFICIO BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE
CYPRESS RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT, AMENDING
RESOLUTION NO. 6045 ESTABLISHING HOURLY PAY RANGES FOR
TEMPORARY PART -TIME AND SEASONAL POSITIONS.
WHEREAS, on September 25, 2013, the California Legislature enacted
legislation signed by the Governor of California, raising the minimum wage for all
industries; and
WHEREAS, the minimum wage will increase to $9.00 on July 1, 2014 and to
$10.00 on January 1, 2016; and
WHEREAS, the City has certain part-time classifications that fall below the new
minimum wage amounts; and
WHEREAS, the City of Cypress is adjusting the pay range schedule to comply
with State Law and address internal compaction issues between classifications.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of
Cypress, and acting as ex- officio Board of Directors of the Cypress Recreation and
Park District, that Resolution No. 6045 be amended as indicated below:
SECTION 1. Hourly Pay Ranges
Temporary part-time and seasonal employees in the positions indicated shall be
compensated as shown on the following: 1) Attachment "A" effective June 20, 2014 and
2) Attachment "B" effective December 18, 2015.
SECTION 2. A temporary part-time and seasonal employee is eligible for a merit
increase within the salary range established for the position based on acceptable job
performance as approved by the Department Head and provided that the employee has
worked a minimum number of hours from the date of appointment or the date of the last
merit increase as indicated on Attachment "A ".
SECTION 3. A temporary part-time and seasonal employee must meet the
qualifications of a position as specified in the job specification in order to qualify for a
promotion to a position with a higher rate of pay and more responsible duties. In
addition, all promotions shall be based on acceptable job performance as approved by
the Department Head.
SECTION 4. Incumbents of temporary part-time and seasonal positions receive
no benefits except those required by State and Federal Law.
SECTION 5. This Resolution shall become effective on June 20, 2014 and all
resolutions and parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby rescinded.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Cypress, and acting
as ex- officio Board of Directors of the Cypress Rec -atio) and Park Iistrict, at a regular
meeting held on the 12th day of May, 2014.
