A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS
RECOGNIZING THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER AND
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR DAVID BELMER
WHEREAS, David Belmer began his work as the Community Development
Director in the City of Cypress in February of 2001, bringing to our City years of
expertise in the Economic Development profession; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure in the City of Cypress, David Belmer oversaw the
Planning, Redevelopment, Housing and Code Enforcement divisions for the City; and
served as a viable member of the City's Executive Team; and
WHEREAS, in September of 2003, David Belmer was appointed to the position
of Assistant City Manager, thereby broadening his responsibilities by increasing his
involvement in the City's Finances, Human Resources, Intergovernmental Affairs and
other specific projects; and
WHEREAS, under the leadership of David Belmer, the City of Cypress was able
to achieve significant redevelopment projects to include the welcoming of Costco and
the Cottonwood Christian Center; and residential projects such as Sycamore Lane,
Centerstone, Nevis Homes and Habitat for Humanity projects which brought upwards of
150 new, single - family homes to the community; and
WHEREAS, David Belmer is not only a highly respected individual within the
City's organization, but he is also highly respected within the community as attested to
the professional relationships he has developed with the City's Business Park leaders,
the Cypress Chamber of Commerce, Warland Investments, Cypress Land Company
and numerous realtors and developers within the community; and
WHEREAS, effective May 26, 2006, David Belmer will depart the City of
Cypress to begin a new era of service in accepting the position of Assistant City
Manager for the City of Lake Forest; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of
Cypress hereby recognizes the service and contributions made by DAVID BELMER
during his five years of service with the City of Cypress and extends sincere BEST
WISHES to David and his wife, Teri, along with their two children, as he
undertakes a new position in another City.
PASSED AND ADOPTED, by the City Council of the City of Cypress at a regular
meeting held on the 22nd day of May, 2006.
