AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS AMENDING
SECTION 22 -1 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS RELATING TO SEWERS
AND SEWAGE DISPOSAL
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS DOES
FIND, DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Section 22 -1 of the Code of the City of Cypress is hereby amended to read
as follows:
Section 22 -1. Service charges.
The City furnishes to the residential, commercial, business, and manufacturing
community thereof, services and facilities in connection with its sanitation and sewerage
system. In consideration of such services and facilities, the following charges hereby are
established for all users:
(a) Effective February 23, 2000, seventy eight thousandths dollars ($0.078) per 100
cubic feet (CCF) of water usage, except metered irrigation usage; and
(b) Effective August 23, 2000, one hundred nine thousandths dollars ($0.109) per 100
cubic feet (CCF) of water usage, except metered irrigation usage; and
(c) Effective February 23, 2001, one hundred forty thousandths dollars ($0.140) per
100 cubic feet (CCF) of water usage, except metered irrigation usage.
(d) Effective five (5) years from February 23, 2000, and every five (5) years
thereafter, the sewer fund shall be reviewed. City may increase the sewer charge
due to construction inflation in accordance with, and up to, the Construction Cost
Index for the Los Angeles area, as published by the Engineering News - Record.
SECTION 2. Severability.
If any section, subsection, subdivision, sentence, clause, phrase, or portion of this
ordinance, or the application thereof to any person or place, is for any reason held to be invalid
or unconstitutional by the decision of any court of competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not
affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance or its application to other persons or
places. The City Council hereby declares that it would have adopted this ordinance, and each
section, subsection, subdivision, sentence, clause, phrase or portion thereof, irrespective of the
fact that any one or more sections, subsections, subdivisions, sentences, clauses, phrases, or
portions, or the application thereof to any person or place, be declared invalid or
unconstitutional.
FIRST READ at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Cypress held on the
10th day of January, 2000, and finally adopted and ordered posted at a regular meeting held on
the 24th day of January 2000. �>
