AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS
AMENDING SECTION 2 -2.22 OF THE CYPRESS CITY CODE RELATING
TO THE TERMS OF MEMBERS OF COMMISSIONS AND COMMITTEES.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS HEREBY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Section 2 -2.22 of the Cypress City Code hereby is amended
to read as follows:
Sec. 2 -2.22. Same -- Appointments to Commissions and Committees.
Except as expressly provided otherwise, the members of Commissions and
Committees appointed by the Mayor or the City Council shall be appointed for
a term of four (4) years. The term of office shall commence upon the Commis-
sioner's or Committee Member's taking the oath of office; and, notwithstanding
the above, a Commission or Committee Member shall continue in office until
a successor is qualified and takes office or until the office becomes vacant
by removal, resignation, or otherwise. No individual may serve more than
two (2) consecutive terms on the same Commission or Committee.
SECTION 2. Severability. If any section, subsection, subdivision,
sentence, clause, phrase, or portion of this orda'ance, or the application
thereof to any person or place, is for any reason held to be invalid or un-
constitutional by the decision of any court of competent jurisdiction, such
decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this
ordinance or its application to other persons or places. The City Council
hereby declares that it would have adopted this ordinance, and each section,
subsection, subdivision, sentence, clause, phrase or portion thereof,
irrespective of the fact that ony one or more sections, subsections, subdivi-
sions, sentences, clauses, phrases, or portions, or the application thereof
to any person or place, be declared invalid or unconstitutional.
FIRST READ at a regular meeting of the City Council of said City held on
the 10th day of May 1976 and finally adopted and ordered posted at a regular
meeting held on the 24th day of May 1976.
