A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CYPRESS, AND
ACTING AS EX- OFFICIO BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CYPRESS RECREATION
AND PARK DISTRICT, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 6597 ESTABLISHING HOURLY
PAY RANGES FOR TEMPORARY PART -TIME AND SEASONAL POSITIONS.
WHEREAS, per Senate Bill No. 3, the California minimum wage will increase from
$10.00 per hour to $10.50 per hour on January 1, 2017; and
WHEREAS, certain part-time classifications were updated to comply with minimum
wage requirements and to avoid internal compaction between classifications; and
WHEREAS, the minimum wage is scheduled to increase incrementally until it reaches
$15.00 per hour by 2022; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 6597 was adopted on November 14, 2016; and
WHEREAS, the pay range for Maintenance Attendant was not updated on Attachment
"A" as required; and
WHEREAS, the necessary revision to Attachment "A" is attached;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of
Cypress, and acting as ex- officio Board of Directors of the Cypress Recreation and Park
District, that Resolution No. 6597 be amended as indicated below:
SECTION 1. Effective December 30, 2016, Temporary part-time and seasonal
employees in the positions indicated shall be compensated as indicated in Attachment "A ".
SECTION 2. A temporary part-time and seasonal employee is eligible for a merit
increase within the salary range established for the position based on acceptable job
performance as approved by the Department Director and provided that the employee has
worked a minimum number of hours from the date of appointment or the date of the last merit
increase as indicated on the Attachment "A ".
SECTION 3. A temporary part-time and seasonal employee must meet the
qualifications of a position as specified in the job specification in order to qualify for a
promotion to a position with a higher rate of pay. In addition, all promotions shall be based on
acceptable job performance as approved by the Department Director.
SECTION 4. Incumbents of temporary part-time and seasonal positions receive no
benefits except as required by State and Federal Law.
SECTION 5. The pay ranges in this Resolution shall become effective on December
30, 2016 and all resolutions and parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby rescinded.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Cypress, and acting as ex-
officio Board of Directors of the Cypress Recreation and Park District, at a regular meeting
held on the 28th day of November, 2016.
